Happy Thursday

Happy Thursday Everyone!

We had such a great 1st week of school! I'm looking forward to a great year. This week was filled with lots of get to know you activities. Today we did two activities that helped us see what works and doesn't work when we are doing group work or partner work. The kids did a great job!
I sent home our first project of the year today! I am asking the kids to create a "Me Box" that is filled with objects that represent themselves. This project is due next Friday. I also sent a notice home about Time For Kids Magazine for the kids, please look for that. If there are any questions I can be reached at ejenkins@sau16.org.
I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to the rest of the school year!

Sincerely,

Class Happenings

Hello Everyone!!

We have been busy the past few weeks with finishing up a few of our units! The students have been working really hard with their personal narratives. This week we will be wrapping up with our final edits and will be sharing them next week. We have also finished our medieval unit in reading. As a final project, the students have been working in small groups to create a movie trailer for the book that they read. These will be shared on the school’s library site!! I will let you know when the final product is complete and uploaded so you can take a look!!

We have a couple of new things going on as LSS and in our classroom. The school is now on Twitter and so is our classroom! You can follow the school at @ExeterLSS and the classroom is @MrsJenkins5LSS. Our class Twitter page is a work in progress. I will occasionally share some of the things we are working on during the day or week and any upcoming events! I’m also thinking about having the students Tweet from their point of view things that are happening in the classroom!! So, please look for us and other teachers from LSS on Twitter!!!

On Monday we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a fun Valentine’s Day STEM Activity and will be exchanging Valentine’s Cards during snack. Please make sure that your child has a Valentine for each of the students in the class.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call of email me!

          Thanks,

Mrs. Jenkins

Remember tonight to look up what your specific function is in the heart/circulatory system. Tomorrow I would like us to put it all together and act out what the heart does. Lastly, in writing we started talking about exploding moments in our narratives. We will continue this tomorrow in class. I wanted to let you all know that since the beginning of 2016 I've really seen you kids working hard! You are showing how you are getting ready for 6th grade! Keep up the great work!
